Making The Town Attractive

Stokesley Pride In Our Town Association (SPIOTA) helps keep our town looking colourful. Its members plant and tend the many floral displays around the town. These include:

-          the tubs around the town

-          the displays on the Stokesley Motors and other roundabouts

-          the flowers around the mill wheel and the war memorial

-          the plants in front of the Welcome to Stokesley signs as you enter the town

-          the ziggurat on the market cross

Many volunteers have been members of the group for more than 20 years. Whilst the minds are still willing, age is beginning to affect a number of them physically.

SPIOTA is now looking for new volunteers to help with the work of the group. If you can help to plant, maintain or simply assist in watering the displays, whatever your age, and have some time to spare then please contact Linda Purnell by telephone on 01642 710715 or by e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. Alternatively you can find out more at the SPIOTA coffee morning in the Town Hall on Friday morning 19 August 2016.

The Parish Council is proud to support the work of SPIOTA and appreciates the tremendous contribution it makes to improving the visual appearance of Stokesley made by the team of volunteers. If you have a few minutes that you can contribute to keeping our town looking at its best then please contact Linda now.
